BEYOND THE CREED
Beyond the Creed is a fan made POC (Proof of Concept) developed to study how AI creative tools and other means of creative action and production like Unreal Engine can be used within a production pipeline. We wanted our creative study to be "briefing based" for 2 reasons :
-
to avoid creative drifting (which is very tempting with generative AI),
-
to be based on existing references for realism & potential applications.
As huge fans of Jon Favreau's fantastic production approach and the work of his FAB team on the Star Wars side stories "The Mandalorian" we decided to choose his inspiring work as a creative focus for our explorations. The pitch was very simple : using these tools, can we imagine side stories that "could fit" right next to the existing TV series? - The goal here is of course not to produce a final product, just to explore new ways to illustrate ideas through a realistic and dynamic kind of concept art work.
> AI creative tools

We used AI creative tools for the first explorations. Our goal was to imagine and illustrate parallel situations or mini-stories on the same planets but before or after the canon story of The Mandalorian. We tried also to imagine new situations that could somehow fit into The Mandalorian's existing realm (similar locations, clans or groups of humans, skilled pilots, space fighters, other alien species, etc.). - We documented our work on a Instagram page. - Please note that the story continuity is piling up with the posts, so the latest post are the first ones you see hereunder. To follow the story from the beginning on Instagram, you can go down & right to the first post or reel, then click left up to the top.
> Unreal Engine
The second test was a cinematic trailer produced with Unreal Engine and a touch of AI for the credits and soundtrack. It is not a secret anymore, Jon Favreau and his FAB team inspired the cinema industry through their incredible work in virtual production using Unreal Engine. It is now clear that UE has a great added value for virtual production, mostly to create backgrounds that will be shot on a led wall VP stage. So we wanted to explore UE's potential to recreate an existing environment as close as possible to the TV series and "shoot our trailer" within this environment. An extra side story between the existing TV series and the feature film "Mando & Grogu".

N.B. : Please note that our research is a fan-made creative exercise and is not linked in any way to the original TV series or to the Star Wars franchise, Lucas Film or Disney. - The use of these references is intended for illustrative and educational purposes only, and no infringement of intellectual property rights is intended.
